Dr. Molefi K. Asante
Dr. Molefi Kete Asante is a distinguished scholar, author, and educator, renowned for his pioneering work in Africology and African American Studies. As a Professor and former Chair of the Department of Africology and African American Studies at Temple University, he is a leading figure in the development of Afrocentricity, which centers African experiences in the study of history and culture. Dr. Asante, who earned his Ph.D. in Communication Studies from UCLA in 1968, has dedicated his career to promoting African cultural heritage. He has authored or edited over 100 books, including seminal works like "Afrocentricity: The Theory of Social Change." His scholarship has profoundly influenced communication, education, history, and cultural studies, emphasizing African-centered perspectives. Beyond academia, Dr. Asante has been involved in community initiatives and international dialogues promoting cultural pride among people of African descent.
